Self Introduction

Hello! My name is Sam Stauss. I am currently a third year student at the University of Cincinnati Clermont College. This is my first year in the BTAS program at the University of Cincinnati. I have lived on the west side of Cincinnati my entire life. I went to Elder High School and graduated in 2017. I entered into the Aviation Technology program at Clermont College in 2017 and graduated from the program in July of 2019. Some of my hobbies include flying, photography, photoshop, hanging with friends, and video games. Aviation has been a passion with me ever since I could talk. I now currently have my Commercial Pilots license and now am just at the end of my flight instructor training, with my ultimate goal of making it to the regional airlines.

My Goals for the program are to graduate with the knowledge of how use and manage an ePortfolio site. I also hope improve my writing skills in this semester. I hope to complete this program in the Fall semester of 2020 with the ultimate goal of obtaining my bachelors degree. A goal I have to complete this program with a GPA above a 3.8. During this semester I hope to improve my writing, with fundamentally being able to write and post my blogs with ease.

  1. Hello Sam,

That is awesome you have already achieved your Commercial License in just under two years! Being a Flight Instructor is really fun and gives a ton of experience flying and teaching alike. I hope you are able to achieve the goals you have set in place for this semester and moving forward. Looking forward to “seeing” you in class this semester!

  2. Sam,

Thats great that you are nearing the end of your flight instructor training! Hopefully you will be joining Connor and I soon as part of the Sporty’s Academy instructional team. It has been a pleasure getting to know you through our time in the UC Aviation Technology program and I hope we continue to get to know each other even more through this class and possibly working together. I think there are a handful of Aviation major students in this course that are now doing the BTAS transition so it should be good seeing a few familiar names around. I know online courses can be intimidating but hopefully it will be a great semester for all of us! I wish you all the best this semester and good luck with finishing up your flight training!

  3. Sam, Great introduction to yourself. Flying has got to be the scariest most fun things that I ever learned to do. You have got great goals and I think they will be attainable if you keep on a schedule and refrain from procrastinating. I recently moved here from out of state so I am still learning the lay of the land. Have a great semester and I look forward to seeing more pictures from the aviation program hopefully.

  4. Sam,

Wow! It’s really impressive to see someone so young who has accomplished so much. I share your love for aircraft and it’s that love that lead me to my career in engineering at GE Aviation. Sadly, though, I’ve yet to earn my pilots license which is a goal I have for my future. Maybe you can recommend a good flight school and instructor that I could train with.

I wish you all the best in the new year and with achieving your degree from the BTAS program!!
