As I talked about last week in my blog post about discourse communities that they are a group or a community of people with have similar interests or they are in some sort of career that communicate with each other in order to get things done. This doesn’t have to include people who are who have the same language but just the same kind of career path.
The element that would best suit the aviation community, would have to be number 6, there is a threshold level of members with a suitable expertise and understanding of relevant content. This element basically says that the members of this community have some sort of knowledge pertaining to that sort of community and have understanding of what that sort of community deals with. The professional side of aviation has many different kinds of members with in the aviation field. In my kind of workplace my discourse community is the educational and professional side with students and teachers. One time in my airport I met a gentleman from Colorado and we were talking about aviation like we had know each for some time. Its this kind of behavior that I see many times in the airport. Another example is talking to some maintenance people and them knowing everything about flying and how aircraft work. I think the aviation community is something that is special with only a certain amount of people around the world. It is something special to belong into this kind of community.
