Working on Audience

The past few weeks I have read and discussed my point if view on different types of genre and audiences. After reviewing the technical and professional writing textbook that was the current reading for this week. It was interesting to see some of the different sections that were in the book. I learned to take your time when you are writing something. Also to take in account of what the writing process means to you. Some of the most important parts of writing and everyday life goes off of audiences, genres, and what the purpose is for said writing.

For our question this week we were asked how genres, audiences, and purposes are all put together in a single form of a conversation. In my opinion to combine all three of those together you need to know what kind of setting that you in. So, a lot of factors come into play when are combining all three of those. You must know who your audience is and what your relationship with them is in order to base a genre on what you are talking about. You must also know what kind of purpose that you have and the purpose of what your audience has to be able to speak with them clearly and also to connect with audience and make sure that they listen to what you are saying.

  1. Sam,

I also agree that knowing and understanding the setting is very important. Once you determine this, it is easier to determine the purpose for which you are writing, who you are writing for, and the genre you choose to present your information in. I feel that all three of these are important factors to consider when you are creating an effective piece of writing, and that you must keep these in consideration until you complete your piece.
    Good job with your post!

  2. Sam,

I agree with you that you need to take your time when writing. You need to know who your audience is and what the purpose is for your writing. This should take some planning throughout the entire writing. This will help you to determine the type of genre to be used. No only have them listen to it but to response to your writing and be clear on what each persons position is on the subject.
