Rhetorical Situation

This weeks reading deals with the common workplace genres and professional writing. Just like when I talked about last week about rhetorical situations, we are expanding our knowledge of what rhetorical situations are in our writings that we have done this semester.

The first document I will analyze is a case study that I wrote for another class, in which I wrote about ethics and communication. For this case study we had to answer questions about how salespeople operate in a very competitive market. We are put into a realistic situation in which there is a sale going on and you have to answer what the best ways are to ethically solve the situation. The context of this situation can be interpreted by anyone that isnt in the class. For the audience this piece of work was solely meant for the instructor of the course, it can be use for a wider audience. The genre of the piece it is written only for my class that I am currently taking. The purpose of this piece was for the instructor of the course to see how I would communicate ethically in a business level interaction.

For my second piece that I will analyze that I have written this semester will be a lesson plan that I have written for my flight instructor training that I took early in the semester. This lesson plan is on a commercial maneuver called Eights on Pylons. Lesson plans are supposed to be a guide for both the student and the instructor to have a uniform conversation of the explanation of a specific maneuver or concept of knowledge. The context of this lesson plan is that it wouldnt be very understandable to anyone that doesnt have any aviation knowledge. The audience for this piece of work is for any student that needs to read on this certain maneuver and also fro the instructor so that he can have a plan to teach with their students. The genre for the piece of writing would have to be a lesson sheet for a class or a student one on one. The purpose of this document is to introduce someone to this certain maneuver called Eights on Pylons. This is for the student to gain knowledge of what this is and why they should do it.

    I think that you did a really great job going into detail with each one of your assignments that you chose. Your case study was a really good example and can really help people have a better understanding about rhetorical situation. I feel like rhetorical situation is a complex subject that isn’t the easiest to understand. That’s why I think this assignment and showing different assignments that other people have chosen for examples, is a great idea to get people to understand the overall concept. I had a hard time deciding which ones I was going to use for this particular assignment.
